Message of our President
Dear members and friends of HSV,
My name is Gloria Madrigales and I have been elected as President of the Hispanic Society of Victoria, for the next 12 months.
I originally come from El Salvador, having left there in 1985 to escape the civil war I arrived in this wonderful country in February 1985, and have been here ever since. I travel back home whenever I can as part of my family is still living there, most of them are living in USA. El Salvador has been recovering and now is a beautiful country well worth visiting.
I consider it an honour and a privilege to be the elected President of the Hispanic Society of Victoria, it comes with the responsibility to make sure the society is well organised and that each Tertulia is interesting and members and their friends come along for a great time, this can only be achieved with the hard work and commitment of the new Committee and the support from all the members and friends from this Society.
My goal is to continually look at ways to grow the society and make it interesting for all , the society I have inherited from Luis Alban is one that is financial sound and record membership, he will be a hard act to follow luckily he will still be on the committee to help us all.
This Year we are celebrating our traditional Gala Night on 18 of October in Golf Club Box Hill celebrating 62 anniversaries will be a special time to share with family and friends and pride after seeing how far we have gone and promoting the Hispanic culture in Melbourne.
I would like congratulate the newly elected Committee; I believe that their commitment to making the society even better will make my role as president an easier task.
As Treasurer of the former committee for 2 years, I would like to congratulate my colleagues Octavio Martinez, Esther Gomez, Maribel Gomez, Hugo Otalora and Juan Carlos Guzman for the commitment and the excellent work.
And finally on behalf of the past committee and newly elected committee I must acknowledge the achievements our past President Luis Alban, under his leadership the society has grown considerably, thank you on behalf of all members for the great job you have done. We have moved base to a larger hall, have many sponsors of our society, financially we are in a great position to offer more for our members as the new committee would be looking and planning for future events and activities for the society. That is why my job as incoming President will be a lot easier to do.
Hugs,
Gloria Madrigales
